Fonds Käthe Zingg Schwichtenberg

Research promotion in the field of medical ethics
and innovative projects.

From this fund, the SAMS provides financing for the promotion of research projects in the field of medical ethics and for initial grants in aid for the realisation of new types of scientific projects for which there are, as yet, no other established research institutes available. In the year 2012, the SAMS will presumably distribute CHF 250’000.– from the Fund Käthe-Zingg-Schwichtenberg.

Applications for these research grants should be submitted in German, French, or English. The maximal amount granted cannot exceed CHF 60’000.– per grant.

Prize Théodore Ott 2012

The SAMS announces the Prize Théodore Ott 2012 in the field of Neuosciences (award for an outstanding scientific life's work).

The Prize, founded in accordance with the will of the physician, Théodore Ott (1909-1991), Professor of Neurology in Lausanne, will be awarded to researchers who have made particularly outstanding achievements in the field of basic research in neurosciences. Preference will be given to researchers in Switzerland.

Normally the Théodore Ott-Prize is announced once every five years with a prize sum of CHF 50'000.–.

Prize Robert Bing 2012

The SAMS announces the Prize Robert Bing 2012 to reward young researchers in the field of Neuosciences.

The Robert Bing Prize is awarded from the fund established by the neurologist Robert Bing (1878-1956) and is given, in accordance with the stipulations of the founder's testament, to «scientists who have done outstanding work which has helped in the recognition, treatment and cure of neurological diseases» who will be encouraged by this prize to do further research.

At the founder’s request Swiss scientists and physicians (up to 45 years) are preferred. The prize is awarded as a rule every two years and endowed with prize money of CHF 50'000.–.

«Health Services Research» funding programme

Research promotion in the field of health services research

The programme aims:

  • to facilitate high-quality projects in the field of health services research in the broadest sense;
  • to support the development of young researchers in this area; and
  • in the medium to long term, to build research capacity and infrastructure in the field of health services research in Switzerland.

To achieve these goals, the Bangerter-Stiftung is making available around CHF 1 million per year in funding for the period 2012–2016.

Deadline for sumission of applications is the 1st March 2012.
